Crumb Shroon
Crumb Shroon

The Crumb shroon is an alien fungus believed to originate from a p.p.e. planet called Sris 4. The mushrooms were brought by a rift, which stayed open for 6 days. The shroons adapted well to the p.p.e. rich Earth. They are poisonious to eat and will kill psi-stalkers! Magic-users, however, can eat them. The Crumb Shroons radiate magic and can be seen glowing at night. They grow in clusters of about 30. All of the shroons are colored the same. A pale brown with bright yellow and orange "crust" and roots. The mushroom's surface is dusted with a white powder.

Effects: The mushrooms are poisonious to most everyone except magic users. Eating one or part of one will cause 3D6 straight to hit points. It will kill a psi-stalker if they eat one. Stalkers can't refuse to eat them if found. The shroons "hold" magical energy. There's a 90% chance they will eat a crumb shroon if they come across a cluster. The real advantage the mushrooms is that they provide the magic user with a higher base! This increase of p.p.e. base does come with a price. If eaten, the man of magic will increase his or her p.p.e. base by 1D4×10! Each mushroom eaten will reduce the mage's I.Q. by 1D4 points (GM roll this).
Note: If a magic user eats many mushrooms, then IQ will drop accordingly. If IQ goes to a 6 or below O.C.C. requirements, then skills and powers will be lost!
Value: Each mushroom is worth about 10,000 credits to an Alchemist.
